Concert Dress

The Premier Orchestra is required to dress in the mode of a professional orchestra for concert performances.

Masculine Option

  • Black tuxedo (used tuxedos are available at various formalwear stores in the area)

  • White long-sleeved dress shirt (tux-style or pointed collar is acceptable)

  • Black bow tie, socks, and dress shoes (no tennis shoes)

Note: Tuxedo Den sends a representative to a fall rehearsal for a fitting session.  They offer a great price on complete ensembles.

Feminine Option

  • Two piece black outfit, on top either a full or 3/4 sleeve blouse and on bottom either a full length skirt or palazzo pants. Appropriate examples can be found at www.concertblack.com.  However, you may choose to purchase with the vendor of your choice as long as the styling and materials are similar.

  • Black or natural-colored nylons

  • Black dress shoes (no sandals or tennis shoes)

If for any reason you are having difficulty finding an option that is comfortable for you, please feel free to contact our office for assistance.

The Academy of Music (Academic String Orchestra, Symphonic Winds, Classic Orchestra, Vivace String & Prelude  Strings) have a less rigorous dress requirement.
