Greg Brucker Conductor Prelude Strings & Vivace Strings

Greg Brucker holds a bachelor’s degree in music from U.C. Davis, a master’s degree in education, and a teaching credential, and is the conductor of the Sacramento Youth Symphony Prelude Strings and Vivace Strings Orchestras. He also serves as the Director of the Emerson-Harper Junior High School Orchestra Program in Davis, California. With his natural gifts as a music educator, his work with students of all ages has not gone unnoticed. In 2010, his Davis Junior High Advanced Orchestra had the distinction of being invited to perform at the American Strings Teachers Association’s National Orchestra Festival—a national honor. He was also chosen as the 2012-2013 Capitol Section Honors Orchestra Director for a middle school orchestra.

An active and passionate advocate of arts education, Mr. Brucker’s awards transcend those of music alone. In April 2012, he was recognized as a “Forward Thinker” by the organization, California Forward, for his efforts to preserve music and arts education in public schools during a time of statewide financial crisis. He continues to contribute to his community at large through his orchestras, his advocacy, and his thriving private teaching practice, Five Below Double Bass Studio.

In addition to Mr. Brucker’s vast teaching and conducting efforts, he is an accomplished musician and is currently principal bass for both the Folsom Symphony and the Auburn Symphony orchestras. During his career he has performed with the U.C. Davis Symphony Orchestra, the Merced Symphony Orchestra, Camellia Symphony Orchestra, and numerous other orchestras and ensembles in the Sacramento Valley region.
