Maryll Goldsmith Conductor Classic Orchestra

A native of Sacramento, Ms. Goldsmith attended junior high school in Concord, California, where she began to play the bassoon. This early participation in music eventually led her to a performance major. She then received a master’s degree in 1974 from California State University, Sacramento.

Ms. Goldsmith became a member of the Sacramento Symphony in 1970. She is now the conductor of the Sacramento Youth Symphony Classic Orchestra. When not conducting, she plays bassoon and contra bassoon with other Northern California ensembles and organizations. Additionally, she is an instructor at Sacramento City College and other campuses in the Los Rios Community College District.

When not teaching, conducting or playing bassoon, you can find her tuning and repairing pianos around town. She has been a member of the Piano Technicians Guild as a tuner/technician for more than 20 years.
